It’s not everyday that you come across a place as quaint and no frills as this one yet so strikingly attractive. Situated opposite Moolchand Hospital is Le Bistro du Parc, a recent addition to Delhi’s throbbing bistro culture.

The aroma of the bread, the twingling of the wine glasses, the large French windows and the wooden furniture all transports you to the streets of Paris. The brain child of  Indo-French Food connoisseur, Naina de Bois-Juzan, the bistro has a blackboard menu which changes everyday. The idea is not to immerse the customer in the labyrinth of items on the menu but rather savour the limited options. The whole concept of bistronomy (desire to drop the astronomical prices and stuffy atmospheres of top-class Michelin outfits in favour of humbler, more convivial fare aka gastronomic dishes in a bistro setting) comes alive here.
We decided to begin our sojourn with two appetizers followed by two mains.
Our first appetizer was the Salad Parisienne. The fresh veggies were sinfully tossed in just the right amount of mustard and vinegar. The chicken was crunchy. Sliced eggs finished this salad. We totally gorged on this one! Next on we decided to try the Chicken Liver Parfait (since we had heard so much about it). The parfait was velvety smooth and was served with toasted bread. Accompanying it were chutney and fresh figs. Mind you this dish isn’t for everyone (the taste they say is acquired).

We followed this up with Red Snapper with Peppers and Courgette. The combination of courgette/zucchini and peppers was a filling topping for fish which was succulent and tender. The slightly sour taste added to the simplicity of the dish. Next up on the table was Sauted Chicken with Risotto which was a complete steal!

Our Take
The bistro makes for a perfect escapade from the hustle-bustle of the city. The best thing about this place is the warmth with which you are personally received by the owner/manager and other staff members.  It is one place where you will definitely like to come back.
A meal for two will set you back by Rs 2000 approx. Each portion is sufficient for one person.
