Abraham and Thakore

It was a bit of a somber mood this time around at Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2018. Call it the low turnout, missing big names or star power, the usual buzz was missing at AIFWAW18. Guess the only thing making our day brighter were the outfits from Abraham and Thakore.

We attended two days of the fashion extravaganza (gone are the days of attending all five days) and spent time watching shows, exploring the exhibition area, hobnobbing and ofcourse get photographed!

Matching the venue’s monochromatic aesthetics were our all Black and White outfits from Abraham & Thakore. While Amanda decided to go out of her comfort zone with this sari (doesn’t she carry it off with elan?) , I got back to basics with a kurta tunic and pants. We definitely had to give it a twist (see the belts)!

Here, check these out.

We were rather disappointed to see the regulars missing this time around at the Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2018. But we did a little scouting to bring the best from AIFWAW18.

Here is our pick of the top 5 designers from the recently concluded fashion extravaganza.

Pero

Now this is one show we always look forward to. And to our surprise, we were transported to a candy land! Moving away from her staple colours- indigo, black and white, designer Aneeth Arora chose a vibrant colour palette this time around. Pink and corals brightened a rather gloomy winter. Printed florals complemented the checks.

Siddartha Tytler

Taking inspiration from Japanese rockstar warriors, Siddartha Tytler put together a sports-luxe collection- ‘Fuss’. It was a blend of street style and high street. Jogger pants, bomber jackets and boyfriend suits embroidered with metal hardware stood out.

Shyamal Bhumika

Shyamal and Bhumika Shodhan paid a tribute to the mood that is- Paris. The intricately designed collection consisted of dainty lace and silk saris, cocktail dresses, lehengas and more. The designers played with velvet and organza fabrics.

Sahil Kochhar

Sahil Kochhar’s Autumn Winter 2018 collection ‘Chitr’ was high on craftsmanship. Dark colour palette was contrasted with striking florals in mustard, bright red, beige and olive. There was use of applique. Semi sheer shirts and cape jackets stole the show. You know we love you Sahil!

Abraham and Thakore

Abraham and Thakore’s collection #SadakSmart was inspired by the streets of Delhi. There was an abundance of the duo’s signature monochromatic pieces. Though brown, beige and navy blues broke the monotony. There were loose-fitted pants, saris, trench coats, jumpsuits and the humble gamchha. Being AT muses this season, we have to confess our bias towards the designers.

Check out our roundup of the TOP FOUR FASHION TRENDS from the Autumn/Winter 15 season below:

1) Bohemian Rhapsody

In our opinion #AIFW’s Fashion Viewing was a lot about the “Bohemian Revival” – from tribal gypsy dresses to capes teamed with kimonos – these were the primary components of collections by Hemant and Nandita , Malini Ramani and of course Pia Pauro.

The colour palate comprised of muted tones of dusky browns, smoke greys, mustards, dull reds highlighted with a bunch of pop abstract details.

 Battlefield to Runway

As we know military-inspired clothing is a classic concept that has been around for years. And, you wouldn’t be surprised to see that army apparel has once again taken over the runways and is preparing to conquer closets this A/W 15. – The talented designer Aneeth Arora of Péro lent her attention to the military uniforms by giving it a chic twist with a message of “Make Love Not War”.
